Buttermilk Biscuits

Yield: 3 dozen biscuits

  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 pkg dry yeast (2-1/4 teaspoons)

Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine flour, buttermilk, oil, soda and salt in large bowl with tight fitting cover. Mix. Combine water, honey, and yeast; add to flour mixture. Cover and let stand overnight. To make biscuits, pinch off small amount of dough and knead lightly on floured board. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on greased baking sheet for about 6-7 minutes. Dough will keep for about 25 days in the refrigerator.
