East-Meets-Hot Toddy

Beverages Recipes

Yield: 1 serving

While a hot toddy is traditionally made with bourbon or rye, this drink can also be enjoyed with Scotch whiskey. The extra "East" in the name comes from the addition of star anise, which is native to China and adds a sweet licorice flavor.

  • 3 ounces water
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 2 ounces whiskey
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Garnish: slice of lemon, star anise

Boil water with anise. Pour into glass, then add whiskey, sugar, and lemon slice. Garnish with star anise. Serve.
