Ain't B's Cinnamon Bread

Bread Recipes

Yield: One 9x5 inch loaf

I just love this bread! It's very moist, extremely easy to make, great for gift giving, makes great french toast, but best of all it tastes great!

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (unbleached)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons white vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup pecans (optional)
  • Topping
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons margarine or butter
  • 1/4 cup pecans (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9x5 inch loaf pan.

In large mixing bowl add the first 10 ingredients, beat 3 minutes. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Smooth top.

Combine 3 tablespoons white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and butter, mixing until crumbly. Sprinkle topping over smoothed batter. Using knife, cut in a light swirling motion to give a marbled effect. (sprinkle top with 1/4 cup crushed nuts)

Bake for about 50 minutes. Test with toothpick. When inserted it should come out clean. Remove bread from pan to rack to cool.

I found it to be moist and easy to make as the recipe stated! I added raisins, which I think added to the bread's taste. I also sprinkled some cinnamon sugar on top before baking. – Reviewed by S Antonio

Easiest and best recipe I have found for a quick cinnamon bread/coffee cake. Makes a very tender loaf that's yummy with coffee or tea. I made it between the early church service and the pot-luck. There wasn't a crumb left! – Anonymous Review

Delicious!! Absolutely delicious! – Reviewed by LV Bulb Team

You can't go wrong with this recipe, my family loved it...I'm making 3 more today!! It's really good warmed straight out of the oven with cinnamon butter on it, but it is delicious all by itself. – Reviewed by maime schemenauer

This is a wonderful bread to put in Christmas baskets. I plan to make several. It’s wonderful. – Reviewed by Eunice Van Loon

I loved it! I used plain yogurt instead of buttermilk and only 1/8 cup of oil, and nuts from Brazil because that's what I had on hand. Thank you very much for the recipe! Next time I'll add more cinnamon! – Anonymous Review

My first batch didn't work out; but I tried again and liked it very much. – Anonymous Review
