At first glance, Atkins Farms’ Scarecrow Workshop is reminiscent of that scene in The Wizard of Oz when the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion are putting the Scarecrow back together once the winged monkeys have finished with him. The outdoor event, which runs for six weeks each fall, provides bins of flannel shirts, blue jeans, and other accoutrements, plus all the hay you need to assemble the ultimate fall character. Inside the market, you’ll find apples, peaches, and pears from the Atkins orchards. Don’t leave without a fresh fruit pie or half a dozen warm cinnamon-sugar cider donuts from the farm bakery. The store also carries produce, meat, homemade candy, and specialty foods.
