This artist surely makes one think about the ‘need’ of mankind to move around and what it does in steel and concrete to the landscape. I wonder what moving around so much does to the landscape of our minds, hearts and families?

Interesting observation about how our our mobile society is reflected in the infrastructure Rackstraw Downes paints. Also interesting how a strongs sense of place (NY, Texas, Maine) still manages to permeate his paintings of the ugly, ubiquitous transportation constructs.
