Meet Susan Cole Kelly. Sue has been photographing New England for over 20 years and works with local and national magazines, tour guides, and on calendars. She has photographed three books and written one, Our Massachusetts by Voyageur Press. Her favorite subjects are lighthouses, villages and harbors, and the natural beauty of the Northeast. She is also a regular contributor to Yankee Magazine’s New England Photography page on Facebook. We were so impressed with her that we asked if we could feature some of her photographs in a slide show.

Absolutely the best new england photography by far…..I’m a huge fan of Sue’s work and these selected photos are perhaps some of her very best. I have photographed the Quechee Red Barns every year but never achieved the stunning result that Sue has presented here….wow is all I can say….

Great work Sue. I’m glad that Yankee chose you for this. No one deserves it more. You put in the time, the effort, and the miles to produce this beautiful gallery.

Wonderful photographs! This would be a perfect gallery if only the locations were noted. I’d love to go and sit on that bench in the picture with the salt marsh in the background! Thanks, Yankee, for making this work available for us to admire online.

The second-to-last photo in the slide show of the town common reminds me of my favourite autumn-themed film, The Trouble with Harry, Hitchcock’s black comedy set in a small town in VT in autumn. I watch the film every autumn and this photo just captures the quintessential reasons for living in New England and enjoying the beauty of the best season of the year… Thank you!

Your photography is awesome. Some soo typical of New England and the Most Beautiful US Place in the Fall. Here in our Smokies the color is often nice but we don’t don’t have the Blazing Maples. ;Hope to see your work often

  25. Judith Lombardi September 15, 2011 at 5:16 pm #

Absolutely stunning……I always enjoy your work, but especially love your wide array of foliage shots….”wicked nice”……

  26. JOHN CARR November 27, 2011 at 4:47 pm #

NICE, VERY VERY NICE…..BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE THE PICTURES WERE TAKEN, MY WIFE AND I, PLUS DOG, LIKE TO TAKE ROAD TRIPS. THANKS TO PICTURES LIKE THIS, AND KNOWING THEIR LOCATION, WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH VERY SPECIAL TIMES. I MAY NOT HAVE YOUR “EYE” BUT I “DO” HAVE YOUR LOVE OF THE OUTDOORS.
