Bran Scones

Ingredients:
3 cups whole meal self-rising flour, sifted1 cup bran
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon mixed spice
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons honey
1 to 1-1/2 cups milk
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, bran, brown sugar, dates and spice. In a small saucepan combine the butter, honey and milk. Heat until the butter is melted; pour into the dry ingredients. Turn onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Roll the dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out the scones using a 2-1/2-inch round cutter. Place the scones on a baking sheet and brush with milk.
