Yield: 2 loaves.
Although it is not steamed and has no raisins, this is the brown bread Sam Thacher's mother served with the family's Saturday night beans.Ingredients:
2 teaspoons baking soda1-1/2 cups white flour
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
3 cups sour milk
2 teaspoons salt
3-1/2 to 4 cups graham flour
Instructions:
Sift baking soda with white flour. Combine with remaining ingredients. Form into 2 large loaves. Bake in greased loaf pans at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until done.Browse Similar Recipes
