  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup nuts, coarsely chopped

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Combine shortening and salt. Add 1/2 cup of the brown sugar and cream well. Add the 1 cup flour and blend. Spread in a greased 12x8-inch pan.
