Yield: Makes 9 squares.


  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple, drained
  • Topping:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted


Cream 1/4 cup butter with white sugar, then add dry ingredients of cake, and mix. Add egg and milk, then fold in crushed pineapple. Pour into a greased 9x9-inch pan, then crumble the blended topping over the batter. Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 to 35 minutes.
