  • 6 pork chops, 1-1/2 inches thick, slit with a pocket
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • salt and pepper


Wash and dry the chops and season them with salt and pepper. Combine the other ingredients, except the cream, and stuff lightly into the slits. Place in a baking dish, cover with heavy cream, and bake for 1-1/2 hours or until done in a 350 degrees F oven. It is convenient to bake sweet potatoes or sweet potato pudding at the same time. Cornbread, too, if you have a hungry family.
